a fresh purpose exists within every ordinary episode of life
Janne is a self-taught brush letterer with an obsession for purposeful simplicity in everything she does. With a brush, a bottle of ink and a love for paper and making things for loved ones that began when she was little, she letters, paints, creates and let herself be captivated by the therapeutic power of each brush stroke and drop of ink. She is inspired by both the complexity and simplicity in the rituals and gestures of daily life and seeks to infuse them with purpose and values – reflecting in her works.
When not designing, painting or hustling around the behind-the-scenes of Mint & Ordinary, you can find her spending time with her loved ones, holding a cup of tea and a book in her hands, or dreaming about her next travel destination. Oh, she has a degree in Tourism Management but works with children during the day now because she has a terrible a social awkwardness bug deep in her soul. She indeed does have a contrasting character and passions.
Be it as a gift of daily reminders or an outlet for unspoken words of thoughts and love, Mint & Ordinary products were envisioned to inspire, encourage, and delight each and every of its owner with its minimal yet versatile aesthetics and style, befitting for every occasion.
Janne believes that simple is beautiful, and love is in the details. She puts incredible care and attention into every stage of the process – from sketches & lettering, to handpicking each paper stock and to carefully assemble by hand – because quality matters to stimulate a lasting impression. Nothing gives her more satisfaction and joy to design a purposeful paper good and then have a sender choose and leave a handwritten note with earnest thoughts, the genuine smile on the receiver’s face and in their hearts.
